June 13 - 15, 2023 - The Pedagogy of Creative Music-Making, a 3-day Online Music Teacher Training Learn to supplement a reading-based instruction with off-page creativity from a master improvisation teacher. The event includes:
- 12 hours of live interactive instruction.
- Extensive handouts and audio backing tracks.
- Access to replay videos and resource for one year.
- Private Facebook group participation.
- Frameable certificate of completion.
Eligibility:
- Open to music teachers of all instruments and ensembles with a practical level of piano skills.
- Prior off-page experience (jazz, improvisation, composition) is not necessary but ideal participants are comfortable trying new ways of playing and teaching.
- Participants should be familiar with triads, major/minor scales, and able to construct 7th chords even if not chord fluent. Note that this is not a jazz course. Rather, the focus is on integrating improvisation alongside traditional reading skills regardless of style, historical era, etc.
Dates: June 13-15, 2023 Tues - Thurs.
Times: 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM, 1:00 - 3:30 PM (Eastern U.S. and Canada)
